IATE stands for I nter a ctive T erminology for E urope. It’s the shared terminology database of the institutions of the European Union. Its main aim is to facilitate the task of translators working for the EU, but we hope it will also be useful for other EU staff and for the public in general. Do I need to log on to use IATE?

How many terms are there in IATE?

With over 8 million terms covering the 24 official languages of the EU, IATE is the largest terminology database in the world today: in 2016, its public version received 36 million queries and its internal version (accessible only to EU staff) received 18 million queries.

When will the new version of IATE be released?
